Gangneung Unification Park
The establishment of the national unity and desire for the purpose of raising security awareness
Introduction
Gangneung Unification Park is located in Aninhang Port and Deungmyeong Beach. In 1996, after the North Korean Guerilla Invasion it has become an awareness of national security where they have unification security exhibition halls, warship pavilions, where it is also used as a security education hall. You can hike while looking at the East sea and walk along the security trail and coming upon Gangneung's remains.

Park located at Aninjinri, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do was established in September 26, 2001. This park was made after the North Korean Guerilla Invasion after a submarine went down the waters in September 18, 1996. This park wishes for unification and awareness for security. This area is prohibited from 18:00 due to the military operations. The building is divided into the unification security exhibition hall and the warship pavilion, and because the two are fairly far apart, we recommend you to bring your own car.

At the Unification Park, you can see many attractions such as the blue East Sea and the sunrise. The Unification park provides the central role of unity and security. Inside the park are many different displays such as the company who overcome national crisis, the 6.25 Korean War, equipment used by spies, displays of dispersed family, changes in the unified environment, equipped with a video room, information retrieval facilities and many more. Outside is a Air Force aircraft, President's aircraft and tanks, armored vehicles, artillery and various combat equipment are on display. It is recommended to take a tour inside the presidential plane.

Operated using renewable energy, the Gangneung Green City Experience Center is the nation’s first eco-friendly facility where visitors can explore a green city. From the grassy lawn at the entrance to the streetlights, eco-friendly technologies have been applied throughout the entire site. Visitors can directly see and experience energy generated from nature, offering an opportunity to reflect on the importance of the natural environment.

The Green City Experience Center consists of an integrated convention center and an experiential training center. It hosts a variety of educational and exhibition programs, including an experiential exhibition hall with frequently changing themes and hands-on environmental education classes. At the experiential training center, which features a lake garden and accommodations, rooms are provided at a set fee exclusively for participants in the programs. The center also operates various experiential programs designed to spark interest in environmental education, such as the Green System Tour, Eco Tour, Green Academy, and Green Weekend Experience. The Eco Tour is an activity where visitors ride an electric bus called “Chorok-i,” powered by an electric motor instead of fossil fuels, to visit nearby green city project sites, tourist attractions, and cultural heritage locations.

The Green City Experience Center is composed of an integrated convention center and an experiential training center. The convention center is surrounded by walls fitted with solar power panels, a form of renewable energy. The energy generated here is used to operate the building. As a self-sufficient eco-friendly energy building, its most distinctive feature is that visitors can directly observe and experience energy obtained from nature. Children can also enjoy and learn about the environment in a fun and engaging way. With advance reservations, visitors can enjoy a tour riding an eco-friendly electric bus to and from an art museum. Please note that the center is closed on Mondays. Through the Green System experience tour in Gangneung, visitors can learn about the city’s history, culture, and environment. A wide range of hands-on programs are available, making it enjoyable for both adults and children. Nearby, the Heo Gyun and Heo Nanseolheon Memorial Park is located, and a visit is highly recommended.

Forest Love Promotion Center
An exhibition hall to learn the importance of forest fire prevention.
Introduction
This is the only exhibition hall in Korea where you can learn the importance of forest fire prevention for protecting our forests. It was established in the heart of the East Coast forest fire damage area, which lost 24,000 hectares in April 2000, to promote the importance of forests and protect our beautiful land from fires.

In September 2009, the center expanded with the Forest Fire Video Experience Hall. It screens 4D animations depicting the occurrence and extinguishing process of forest fires, allowing visitors to directly feel the seriousness of forest fire damage through virtual experiences.

The Forest Love Promotion Center reminds us that forests are precious resources providing clean water, fresh air, and a beautiful environment. Since most forest fires are caused by human error, this center was built in February 2006 to protect the nature achieved through hard work. The center consists of the Video Hall and Forest Ecology Hall on the 1st floor, and the Forest Fire Education Hall and Forest Recovery Hall on the 2nd floor, along with an annex for forest fire video experiences. Visitors can enjoy guided tours with forest commentators. The 1st-floor video hall shows a 7-minute video on fire causes and forest importance. The 2nd floor displays various firefighting tools, and the Education Hall features a virtual forest fire simulation. It is highly recommended for families to visit and rethink the value of our forests.

The Sogeumgang Valley is a representative tourist attraction in Gangneung, famous for its magnificent scenery including vertical river-cut cliffs, canyons, and wide talus slopes. Its geological features are so unique that it is often called a geological museum. The Stone Museum in Yeongok-myeon collects and displays these unique stones. It is a place where you can meet over 50,000 rare stones and minerals during your trip.

Located near the Sogeumgang entrance intersection, it is easy to visit when heading to or returning from the valley. There are many nearby attractions such as Sogeumgangsan Mountain, Cheongsimdae Waterfall, Guryong Waterfall, and Noinbong Peak, making it a great stop while hiking or exploring the area.

The Gyeongpo Lagoon Ecology Center is located right behind the Gangneung Green City Experience Center. It offers excellent accessibility, as it is close to the beautiful Gyeongpo Beach, the Gyeongho Lagoon, and the Heo Gyun & Heo Nanseolheon Memorial Park. In terms of total water volume, it is even larger than the aquarium in Seoul’s 63 Building. From 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, aquarists provide hourly guided explanations, which can greatly enhance your visit if you plan your time accordingly. Visitors can also enjoy a feeding show where divers enter the tank to feed the fish, and experience doctor fish that gather when you place your hands in the water.

Upon entering the indoor exhibition hall (Admission: Adults KRW 20,000 / Teenagers KRW 18,000 / Children KRW 16,000), visitors are recommended to explore the first floor first, followed by the second floor.
