  • Introduction
  • Established in 2016, the “National Daegwallyeong Healing Forest” is designed to enhance immunity and promote overall well-being by utilizing various forest healing elements such as natural aromas and scenic landscapes. Located within the dense Geumgang pine forest of Daegwallyeong, the site offers a variety of spaces for forest therapy activities, including a health measurement room, healing huts, pine-scent zones, and therapeutic forest trails.
  • Tour Guide
  • The “National Daegwallyeong Healing Forest” is a forest created by directly sowing pine seeds in the 1920s, now boasting Geumgang pine trees over 90 years old. It is also connected to hiking routes of the Baekdudaegan mountain range, including Daegwallyeong Old Road, Seonjaryeong, Jebongsan, and Obongsan. In particular, visitors can easily and enjoyably experience the healing benefits of the forest through seven distinct forest trails classified by difficulty and characteristics, as well as a barrier-free deck road accessible to all.
  • Travel Tips
  • ❍ The “National Daegwallyeong Healing Forest,” located along the Daegwallyeong Old Road, offers forest therapy programs set against the backdrop of Geumgang pine forests. It provides customized forest welfare services tailored to different life stages, including prenatal forest programs for expectant mothers, as well as programs for youth, adults, and families.
❍ Facilities include a health measurement room, a healing center (experience rooms and lecture rooms), seven therapeutic forest trails of varying difficulty, a wheelchair-accessible barrier-free deck road, healing huts and platforms located throughout the forest, and the Geumgang Pine Observatory. In addition to participating in healing programs, visitors can fully enjoy the forest simply by exploring the area. Walking approximately 600 meters along the barrier-free deck road through the dense pine forest leads to the Geumgang Pine Observatory, where visitors can take in panoramic views of the majestic Daegwallyeong mountain range while enjoying the refreshing pine forest air.
❍ Nearby, the well-preserved Daegwallyeong Old Road has served as a trade and transportation route connecting Yeongdong and Yeongseo regions since the Goryeo and Joseon periods. The area also features the National Daegwallyeong Natural Recreation Forest, one of Korea’s three most beautiful pine forest zones and the first national recreational forest established in the country, offering a perfect place to rest after hiking. Additionally, the Children’s Forest Experience Center and the Daegwallyeong Museum are located nearby, allowing visitors to enjoy a synergistic forest healing experience by exploring multiple attractions.
❍ Furthermore, the National Daegwallyeong Healing Forest is located close to Gangneung city, providing convenient access to urban infrastructure as well as the beautiful coastline of Gangwon State. Nearby attractions include Gyeongpodae, Ojukheon, Buechegil Trail, Anmok Coffee Street, and Olympic Park. If time permits, visitors are encouraged to design their own travel itinerary combining mountains and the sea according to their preferences.
